Description:
(Chemist) Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii was a Russian chemist and photographer renowned for his pioneering work in color photography. He extensively traveled across the Russian Empire between 1909 and 1915, employing his innovative three-image color photography method to document various aspects of early 20th-century Russia. With the backing of Emperor Nicholas II, he captured a diverse array of subjects. Despite losing some negatives, the majority of his work was preserved at the US Library of Congress and subsequently digitized in 2000, resulting in the creation of numerous high-quality color images from over a century ago.
