Description:
(Physician) Sir Ewan Forbes of Craigievar, 11th Baronet, was a notable Scottish general practitioner and farmer who bravely transitioned from living as Elizabeth Forbes-Sempill to openly identifying as a man in the 1930s. By legally changing his name to Ewan and re-registering his birth as male in 1952, he asserted his identity. Overcoming legal obstacles concerning his gender, Sir Ewan's determination and the Court of Session's recognition of his intersex status ultimately enabled him to rightfully inherit the baronetcy and estate in 1965.
