Description:
(Austrian Psychiatrist and Medical Director) Irmfried Eberl, an Austrian psychiatrist and medical director of euthanasia institutes in Brandenburg and Bernburg, played a key role in establishing and serving as the initial commandant of the Treblinka extermination camp for a short period. His involvement in the SS as an Obersturmführer ultimately led to his arrest post-war. In anticipation of his trial, he sadly took his own life in 1948, abruptly ending his professional career.
