(Surgeon) James McHenry was a military surgeon, statesman, and Founding Father of the United States. He signed the United States Constitution representing Maryland and advocated for the formation of the Navy. McHenry was a delegate in the Continental Congress and the Maryland State Convention of 1788. He served as United States Secretary of War from 1796 to 1800 under Presidents George Washington and John Adams. Additionally, Fort McHenry was named after him.
