Philipp Rösler, a German former politician and cardiothoracic surgeon, held various prominent roles in the German government. He served as the federal minister of health from 2009 to 2011 and later as the federal minister of economics and technology, along with the vice-chancellor of Germany, from 2011 to 2013. Additionally, Rösler served as the chairman of the liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) during the same period. He is notable for being the first cabinet minister and vice-chancellor of Asian background in Germany.
