Hua Tuo

Hua Tuo, a prominent Chinese physician during the late Eastern Han dynasty, made significant contributions to medicine. He introduced anesthesia in China for surgeries, using a mixture of wine and a herbal concoction called mafeisan. In addition to his expertise in surgery and anesthesia, Hua Tuo excelled in acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medicine, and medical daoyin exercises. He also created the Wuqinxi, a series of exercises inspired by animal movements such as the tiger, deer, bear, ape, and crane.
