Mehmet Oz is a Turkish-American surgeon, educator, television personality and the co-author of the best-selling YOU series of health books. Born into a first-generation Turkish immigrant family, he now holds dual citizenship of the USA and Turkey, maintaining a close bond with the later all through his life, which in turn helped him to imbibe the best of both the cultures. A brilliant student, he studied medicine and business management simultaneously at the University of Pennsylvania, earning both the degrees in the same year. Eventually he began his career as a cardiac surgeon at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City. Soon, he became interested in alternative medicine and began to incorporate it in his practice. Also a successful television personality, he is especially known for hosting The Dr. Oz Show from 2009 to 2022. Equally active in politics, he is set to contest in the 2022 November general election as a Republican candidate.
