Bruce Johnston is an American singer, musician, and songwriter recognized for his contributions to the Beach Boys. He worked with Terry Melcher, composed popular songs such as "I Write the Songs" for Barry Manilow, and played a key role in arranging and performing on successful records early in his career. Johnston joined the Beach Boys in 1965, lending his vocals and original compositions to the band's albums. Following his departure in 1972, he embarked on a solo career before reuniting with the Beach Boys as a producer and touring member.
