James Levine

James Levine, a renowned American conductor and pianist, served as the music director of the Metropolitan Opera from 1976 to 2016. He also held leadership positions with organizations such as the Ravinia Festival, the Munich Philharmonic, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra. In 1980, Levine founded the Lindemann Young Artists Development Program to mentor aspiring singers, conductors, and musicians. Despite taking a break from conducting between 2011 and 2013 due to health reasons, Levine remained active in artistic and administrative roles at the Met until his retirement as Music Director Emeritus in 2016.
