Louis Spohr

Description: (Former violinist, composer, and conductor whose compositions illustrate an early aspect of the Romantic period in German music)
Louis Spohr, a respected German composer, violinist, and conductor, made significant contributions to symphonies, operas, concertos, oratorios, and chamber music. He introduced innovations such as the violin chinrest and orchestral rehearsal mark. Although his work was somewhat forgotten after his death, there was a revival of interest in the late twentieth century, particularly in Europe. However, his reputation never quite matched the acclaim he received during his lifetime.
