Jeff Van Gundy is an American basketball coach who is currently coaching the National team of the USA. During his illustrious career as a basketball coach, he has coached National Basketball Association teams such as New York Knicks and Houston Rockets. Born and raised in California, Jeff became infatuated with basketball ever since he was young. His father Bill was a popular university level basketball coach. Jeff’s older brother Stan also forged a career in basketball. Hence, Jeff received a great exposure to the game ever since his younger years. Jeff played basketball as a point guard in his high school team and later in Nazareth College. Following his graduation from the college, Jeff began his career as a basketball coach in McQuaid Jesuit High School in New York. In 1989, he became an assistant coach for New York Knicks and in the mid - 1990s, he was finally promoted to the position of a head coach with Knicks, and later with the team Houston Rockets. After he was fired in 2007, he resorted to a career as a commentator and an analyst for ESPN. In 2017, he was hired to coach the American national senior basketball team.
