James Lee Kaat is a retired American professional baseball player and television sports commentator. He enjoyed a successful 25-year career in Major League Baseball as a left-handed pitcher, playing for teams such as the Washington Senators / Minnesota Twins, Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, and St. Louis Cardinals. Kaat was a three-time All-Star and won 16 Gold Glove Awards. Known for his pitching prowess, he led the American League in shutouts, wins, and complete games during his playing days. Following his retirement, Kaat transitioned to sports broadcasting, where he called games for the New York Yankees, Minnesota Twins, and worked for the MLB Network. In 2022, he was honored with election to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
