Monty Don

Description: (TV Presenter)

Monty Don is a British TV presenter, speaker, and writer, best known as the presenter of the popular horticultural show ‘Gardeners’ World.’ He was born to British parents, in Germany, where his father was posted as a career soldier. When Monty was a year old, the family moved to Hertfordshire. Monty later said that he was raised in a strict environment and was educated at three schools. However, owing to the deteriorating financial condition of his family, he worked while he studied. Thus, his focus wavered. He became interested in gardening and farm work in his younger years. In the early 1980s, he married a jeweler and launched a company called ‘Monty Don Jewellery.’ The business grew quickly within a few years. Their client list included Princess Diana and Michael Jackson. In the 1990s, he began his TV career as a guest presenter on the ‘BBC’ show ‘Holiday.’ He also appeared on shows such as ‘Tomorrow’s World,’ ‘Fork to Fork,’ and ‘Don Roaming.’ He was often seen promoting organic farming through his writings and TV programs. He later presented shows such as ‘Gardeners’ World’ and ‘Around the World in 80 Gardens.’ He has also written several books on gardening.
