Carl Barks was a renowned American cartoonist, author, and painter celebrated for his contributions to Disney comic books. He is famously recognized for creating Duckburg and beloved characters such as Scrooge McDuck, Gladstone Gander, and Gyro Gearloose. Throughout his career, Barks worked under anonymity and was affectionately known as The Duck Man and The Good Duck Artist by his admirers. In 1987, he was honored with induction into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame. His global popularity and artistic influence are evident in numerous animated adaptations, most notably DuckTales.
