William Gaines

William Gaines was a pioneering American publisher and co-editor of EC Comics, overseeing a significant shift in EC's direction towards mature-audience comics. He developed an influential and historically important line of comics. Gaines published the iconic satirical magazine Mad for over four decades. His contributions to the comic book industry were posthumously recognized with inductions into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame, the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame, and the Ghastly Awards' Hall of Fame.
