He served as Vice-President and Minister of Women's Affairs under President Adama Barrow, as well as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Darboe has a background in the Attorney General's Chambers and private practice, and has advised various companies and government agencies. He played a key role in founding and leading the United Democratic Party (UDP), and has run for president multiple times. Darboe faced imprisonment but was released following Barrow's election victory.
