Sam Nujoma is a Namibian revolutionary, anti-apartheid activist, and politician. He served as the first President of Namibia for three terms, from 1990 to 2005. Nujoma was a key figure in the founding of SWAPO in 1960 and played a crucial role in campaigning for Namibia's independence from South African rule. He established the People's Liberation Army of Namibia in 1962 and led SWAPO during the Namibian War of Independence from 1966 to 1989. Nujoma retired as SWAPO party president in 2007 and has been honored with various awards for his leadership.
