Massoud Rajavi, an Iranian politician and revolutionary, led the People's Mujahedin of Iran (MEK) from 1979. Alongside his wife Maryam Rajavi, he guided the MEK's operations and advanced its cause. Rajavi resided in France and Iraq after departing Iran in 1981. His disappearance prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq created uncertainty surrounding his fate, leading Maryam Rajavi to become the prominent figure of the MEK.
