Mulayam Singh Yadav was a prominent Indian politician known for his socialist ideologies. Throughout his six-decade-long political career, he served as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for three terms and as the Union Minister of Defence in the Indian government. He was a seven-time Member of Parliament and a ten-time member of the Legislative Assembly. A respected leader in Indian politics, he was often referred to as Netaji and Dhartiputra by his party members. In recognition of his contributions, he was posthumously honored with the Padma Vibhushan award in 2023.
