(Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Hong Kong) Denys Roberts was a distinguished British colonial official and judge who held various high-ranking positions in legal and administrative fields. He began as a Crown Counsel in Nyasaland and later served as Attorney General of Gibraltar. Roberts also played key roles in Hong Kong, including Solicitor-General, Attorney-General, Colonial Secretary/Chief Secretary, and Chief Justice. He was the first Attorney-General to double as Colonial Secretary in Hong Kong. Roberts was the last non-Chinese Chief Justice of Hong Kong and later continued his judicial career in Bermuda and Brunei Darussalam before retiring in 2003.
