Katherine Brown is an American politician and attorney who served as the 38th governor of Oregon from 2015 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, she held various positions in the Oregon government, including state representative, state senator, majority leader of the Oregon Senate, and Oregon Secretary of State. Brown made history as the first openly LGBT person elected to statewide office in the U.S. and as the first openly LGBT governor of a U.S. state.
