(Philologist) Johann Gottlieb Christaller, a German missionary and linguist, is renowned for his significant contributions to the Basel Mission's work in present-day Ghana. He devoted himself to studying the Twi language and was instrumental in translating the Bible into the Akuapem dialect of Twi with the help of African collaborators. Additionally, he served as the inaugural editor of the Christian Messenger, the Basel Mission's official news outlet.
