Jean Senebier

Description: (Pastor)
Jean Senebier, a Genevan Calvinist pastor and naturalist, served as the chief librarian of the Republic of Geneva. He made notable contributions to photosynthesis research by demonstrating that plants use carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Senebier linked the presence of carbon dioxide to the level of oxygen produced in photosynthesis. Additionally, he identified the parenchyma, the green part of the leaf, as the main location for photosynthesis.
