(Anthropologist) Santiago Genovés Tarazaga, a Spanish-born Mexican anthropologist associated with the National Autonomous University of Mexico, initiated the 1973 "Peace Project" experiment. The experiment, also known as the "Sex Raft," involved Genovés and ten others sailing on the Acali raft to investigate the root causes of violence in humans. The 2018 documentary film The Raft focuses on this experiment. Additionally, Genovés participated in the Thor Heyerdahl Ra expedition and contributed to the Seville Statement on Violence in 1986.
