(Archaeologist) Dame Kathleen Kenyon was a celebrated British archaeologist known for her expertise in Neolithic culture in the Fertile Crescent. She led excavations at the historic site of Jericho between 1952 and 1958, a project that significantly impacted the field of archaeology and established her as one of the most important archaeologists of the 20th century. Kenyon also held the position of Principal at St Hugh's College, Oxford, and was an alumna of Somerville College, Oxford.
