Osman Hamdi Bey was a prominent figure in the Ottoman Empire, known for his diverse professional contributions. As the Empire's first modern archaeologist, he played a crucial role in establishing archaeology and museum curatorship in Turkey. He founded the Istanbul Archaeology Museums and the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts, now known as the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. Additionally, he showcased his leadership abilities by serving as the first mayor of Kadıköy.
