Robert Charles Sproul, an American Reformed theologian and ordained pastor in the Presbyterian Church in America, founded and chaired Ligonier Ministries. Under Sproul's leadership, Ligonier Ministries developed the Ligonier Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, which was instrumental in the creation of the 1978 Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy.
