Grand Duke Paul Alexandrovich of Russia was a general in the Imperial Russian Army, serving as an adjutant general to his brother Emperor Alexander III. He commanded the first corps of the Imperial Guard during World War I, although his poor health restricted his service. He had a strong bond with Tsar Nicholas II and his wife in the last days of the Tsarist era. Following the downfall of the Russian monarchy, he participated in the provisional government before being taken into custody and later executed by the Bolsheviks.
