Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn had a successful career in the British Army, serving for 40 years. He held several military positions, including Commander-in-Chief, Ireland, and later became the Governor General of Canada. During the early years of World War I, he represented the King. After his time as Governor General, he remained active in royal and military responsibilities until retiring in 1928.
