Tracey Gold is an American TV and film actress, who is best known for playing the role of Carol Seaver in the 1980s sitcom, ‘Growing Pains’. Born as Tracey Fisher, she became Tracey Gold when she was adopted by her stepfather, a successful talent agent in Hollywood. She started her acting career at the age of four when she landed a role in a Pepsi commercial. She received her first serious role at seven and by the age of nine, she had become a busy child star. Concurrently, she received good grades in school and dreamt of becoming a teacher one day. Very soon, the pressure of being in the spotlight started taking its toll on her health and at the age of 11, she was diagnosed with her first bout of anorexia. Although she returned to her normal weight after counselling, she suffered another attack at the age of 19. She had been living on a 500-calorie diet for years, ultimately being hospitalized for treatment. She decided to fight back and with the support of her family and friends, she recovered enough to start acting again. She has so far acted in more than 10 films and innumerable television series, including ‘Growing Pains’.
