Stuart Heisler

Stuart Heisler, an American film and television director, started his career as a motion picture editor before transitioning to directing in 1936. He became well-known for directing the 1944 propaganda film The Negro Soldier, which aimed to inspire African-Americans to join the U.S. military during World War II. He also directed Susan Hayward in two pivotal roles that helped elevate her career. Additionally, Heisler received an Oscar nomination in 1949 for his outstanding visual effects work in the film Tulsa.
