Description:
(Actor) Frank Benson was a prominent English actor-manager who founded his own company in 1883 and produced nearly all of Shakespeare's plays. He played a key role in the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre and the annual Shakespeare Festival in Stratford-upon-Avon, which later influenced the establishment of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Benson's touring company offered valuable training to many aspiring performers, some of whom went on to achieve fame, such as Henry Ainley and Isadora Duncan. He bore a striking resemblance to the renowned actor Basil Rathbone.
