Daniel Moder is an American cinematographer who is best known for his works in films such as ‘Secret in their Eyes’ and ‘Fireflies in the Garden.’ Born and raised in Los Angeles, Daniel studied psychology in college. However, a keen interest in cameras and lights had him approaching Hollywood to become a cinematographer. He started his career as a production assistant in the 1995 action–adventure film ‘Crimson Tide.’ He then worked as an assistant on the set of the film ‘The Fan.’ He was a camera assistant for films such as ‘The Brave,’ ‘Enemy of the State,’ and ‘The Big Tease.’ He started his journey as a cinematographer with a short film titled ‘Kid Quick’ in 2000. His first major work as a cinematographer was for the 2002 film ‘Grand Champion.’ He also worked as a camera operator in films such as ‘Spider-Man 3.’ He worked as a full-fledged cinematographer with the 2007 documentary film ‘Border.’ He then worked for the films ‘Plush’ and ‘Secret in their Eyes.’ His performance in the TV film ‘The Normal Heart’ earned him a ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ nomination in 2014. He is also known as the husband of legendary Hollywood star Julia Roberts. Daniel and Julia got married in July 2002.
