(Engineer) Emil Ritter von Škoda was a Bohemian engineer and industrialist known for founding Škoda Works, the predecessor of today's Škoda Auto and Škoda Transportation. Starting as the chief engineer of a machine factory in Pilsen, he later acquired and expanded the facility. Škoda established a railway connection and arms factory, manufacturing machine guns for the Austro-Hungarian Army. His business evolved into the Škoda Works, renowned for arms production in both World Wars and a range of industrial and transportation products.
