Graduating from Cornell University, he furthered his education with advanced degrees from Columbia University and the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. During his time at Grumman Aircraft, Kelly held various key roles, including project engineer, engineering manager, and deputy program manager for the Lunar Module. His expertise and leadership were instrumental in the successful design, construction, and operation of the Lunar Module, earning him the title "Father of the Lunar Module" from NASA.
