Robert Moog was an American engineer and electronic music pioneer who invented the first commercial synthesizer, the Moog synthesizer, in 1964. He founded Moog Music, a synthesizer manufacturer, and introduced the iconic Minimoog in 1970. Moog's groundbreaking innovations, including the voltage-controlled oscillator and modularity, transformed electronic music production. Although not a skilled businessman, his significant contributions to synthesizer technology and popular music are highly acclaimed. He continued designing instruments through his company, Moog Music, until his passing in 2005.
