Peiter C. Zatko, also known as Mudge, is an American network security expert, open source programmer, writer, and hacker. He was a prominent member of the L0pht hacker think tank and the Cult of the Dead Cow hacking cooperative. Throughout his career, Mudge has been actively involved in disclosing security vulnerabilities, particularly in areas such as buffer overflow, code injection, race condition, side-channel attack, and cryptanalysis. He has contributed significantly to security advisories and software development, including the creation of L0phtCrack. Mudge has held positions at DARPA, Google, Twitter, and is currently employed at the security consulting firm Rapid7.
