Charles Sumner Tainter

Charles Sumner Tainter was an American scientific instrument maker, engineer, and inventor who collaborated with Alexander Graham Bell, Chichester Bell, and Gardiner Hubbard. He enhanced Thomas Edison's phonograph, resulting in the creation of the Graphophone and the first Dictaphone. Tainter also worked with the International Graphophone Company and oversaw his own research and development lab. He is hailed as the 'Father Of The Talking Machine' for his pioneering work in phonograph technology.
