Presper Eckert was an American electrical engineer and computer pioneer known for designing the first general-purpose electronic digital computer, ENIAC, alongside John Mauchly. He presented the first course in computing topics, co-founded the Eckert–Mauchly Computer Corporation, and designed the first commercial computer in the U.S., the UNIVAC. One of Eckert's notable contributions to computing was the invention of the mercury delay-line memory, which transformed computer memory technology and influenced modern computing systems.
