(Choreographer) Amalia Hernández Navarro was a Mexican ballet choreographer and founder of the renowned Ballet Folklórico de México. She was a pioneer in developing Baile Folklorico and founded the Mexican Folkloric Ballet in 1952, which grew to 60 performers by 1959. Her ensemble was commissioned to represent Mexico at the Pan American Games in 1959. Over her career, she created over 60 choreographies. Her Ballet Folklórico de México has performed regularly since 1960 at the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City. She also founded the Folkloric Ballet School in Mexico City.
