Sir Robert Helpmann was an accomplished Australian ballet dancer, actor, director, and choreographer. He started his career in Australia and later moved to Britain to join the Vic-Wells Ballet, which eventually became The Royal Ballet. Helpmann excelled as a principal dancer and choreographer in the ballet world. His talents were not limited to ballet, as he also made significant contributions to theater by performing in Shakespearean plays, works by Shaw and Coward, and directing various productions including opera, musicals, and pantomime. In addition, he played a key role in the development of the Australian Ballet and Australian Opera.
