Champfleury

Champfleury was a French art critic and novelist who played a key role in promoting the Realist movement in painting and fiction. He supported artists like Gustave Courbet and El Greco, and wrote art criticism under a pen name for different publications. Champfleury also edited the periodical Le réalisme and authored important Realist novels like "Les bourgeois de Molinchart." Additionally, he published a renowned book on cats and held the position of Chief of Collections at the Sèvres porcelain factory.
