Description: (American Mobster and Member of Mafia ‘Lucchese Crime Family’)

Paul Frank ‘Paulie’ Vario was an American mobster who was in command of the notorious ‘Vario Crew’ for the Lucchese crime family for almost three decades. Vario was involved in the robbery at John F. Kennedy International Airport in 1978, infamously known as The Lufthansa Heist. He and his crew used to rob cargos at JFK International Airport regularly without getting much trouble from the law enforcement as he used his influence on the labor unions. Vario used to operate many small and large businesses, including a chop shop. He used his legal business dealings to cover his illegal activities. Vario and his crew were involved in bookmaking and illegal casinos. They also controlled the local mobs or gangs in the East New York section of Brooklyn. Paul Vario owned many shops, bars, restaurants, and cabs as well. One of Vario’s many associates, Henry Hill Jr., testified in court and revealed a lot of information about him and the Lucchese crime family. Renowned filmmaker Martin Charles Scorsese made a film titled ‘Goodfellas’ based on Hill’s confession. The film narrates the story of the Lucchese crime family and their associates.
