Frank Capone was an American mobster and the elder brother of the notorious gangster Al Capone. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and later along with his brothers, shifted his area of work to Chicago, Illinois. Historians have reported that of all the 7 Capone brothers, Frank showed most promise and was the best looking. He was mild mannered and always dressed in an immaculate suit, thus appeared more like a decent businessman. However, some mafia historians have stated that Frank was ruthless and had no compunction about killing to get what he wanted. They further stated that during his short career Frank had ordered deaths of around 500 people. When the South Side gang shifted to Cicero, Frank was in charge of dealing with the town officers. So, to protect the gang’s interests, he tried to take control of the primary elections of the town council (April 1924) and created terror by attacking opponent’s headquarters, assaulting opponent campaign workers and uncooperative voters. A contingent of plainclothes policemen was sent in unmarked cars, and in the ensuing gun fight Frank Capone was fatally shot. He received a grand funeral.
