Alyssa Bustamante is a young American girl convicted of murder at the age of 15. Her victim, Elizabeth Olten, was just 9 years old at the time of her murder. Alyssa was born in Cole, Missouri. Since her parents wer drug addicts, they did not look after her well, so Alyssa was raised by her grandparents. Her father spent most of his time in jail, while his mother was an avid alcoholic. The traumatic family background had a deep bearing on the child's mind and she became psychotic. She had tried to kill herself several times during her childhood; she tried to harm herself by slicing her wrists and was on the depression pills. On October 21, 2009, Alyssa took Elizabeth to the woods, strangled her, cut her throat and buried the body in a grave she had dug a few days ago. Alyssa was subsequently sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree murder.
