(Banker) Chintaman Dwarakanath Deshmukh was an influential Indian civil servant who held various significant roles. He was the first Indian to be appointed as Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. He later served as Finance Minister and was a founding member of NCAER. Following his resignation from the Union Cabinet, he went on to become Chairman of UGC, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delhi, and President of the Indian Statistical Institute. Additionally, he founded the India International Center and chaired the Indian Institute of Public Administration.
