Ken Bates

Kenneth William Bates is a British businessman, football executive, and hotelier known for his involvement in the development of Wembley Stadium. He served as chairman of Oldham Athletic and Wigan Athletic before purchasing Chelsea for £1 in 1982. Bates successfully protected the club's home ground and led them to success in the Premier League. He later sold Chelsea to Roman Abramovich. Bates then acquired a stake in Leeds United, eventually becoming the sole owner before selling his holdings to GFH Capital in 2012.
