Pierre-Georges Latécoère was a pioneering figure in aeronautics, known for founding the aeronautical industry in Toulouse. He began by modernizing his family's firm, which specialized in manufacturing railway wagons. During World War I, he established a modern factory in Toulouse to produce aircraft for government contracts. His passion for aeronautics led him to create the Société des lignes Latécoère (later Aéropostale), which operated airlines from France to Africa and South America. Latécoère also manufactured aircraft under his own name, including notable seaplanes like the Latécoère 631.
