Pierre Bonnard was a French painter, illustrator, printmaker, and lithographer. He was renowned for his use of bold colors and decorative painting style. He was one of the members of the influential Post-Impressionist group 'Les Nabis.' He was inspired by Japanese art and artists in his earlier days. He pioneered the shift from impressionism to modernism in the modern art sphere. He painted portraits, domestic and intimate scenes, and landscapes, where he often focused more on the colors, style, and background rather than the subject. Colors took precedence over everything else for Bonnard. He would often touch-up his completed works with extra colors to his liking. Even though he is best remembered for his paintings, he and the other Nabis also explored various other creative avenues for expressing themselves. He was also a designer of furniture and textile, and he designed stage sets, painted screens, and illustrated books as well.
