Cosmas Damian Asam

Cosmas Damian Asam was a noteworthy German painter and architect during the late Baroque period. He gained acclaim for his artistic abilities after studying at the Accademia di San Luca in Rome. Teaming up with his brother Egid Quirin, who was a sculptor and stucco worker, they undertook various church projects, either constructing new churches or revamping existing ones in the Baroque style. Their collaborative work is often attributed to the "Asam Brothers." Asam made significant contributions to church architecture and decoration, establishing a lasting legacy in the field.
